Enumerator

IOM’s Migrant Protection Division (PxD) provides protection and assistance to migrants in need, including trafficked persons, smuggled migrants with protection needs, rejected asylum seekers, stranded migrants, unaccompanied and separated migrant children, and migrants subjected to violence, exploitation or abuse.

Ensuring the adequate protection of the human rights of all migrants is at the heart of migration management. In the context of this cross-cutting priority, particular attention should be paid to those made vulnerable by a variety of circumstances and conditions. Related to the above and also of growing importance in the region is the broader issue of ensuring migrant well-being.

Through its Assistance to Voluntary Return and Reintegration programme (AVRR), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), with mutlidonor funding, is implementing an overall objective to contribute to facilitating orderly, safe, regular and rights-based migration through the facilitation of dignified voluntary return and the implementation of development-focused and sustainable reintegration policies and processes.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the relevant IOM staff, the Enumerator will be responsible of the activities below, according to the procedures and training provided by IOM:

  1. Conduct survey interviews via phone or in person and fill electronic questionnaire, according to the operation planning defined by the M&E focal person;
  2. Conduct in person focus group sessions when requested by the M&E focal person;
  3. Ensure of the quality of the information collected by systematically verifying and correcting the questionnaire at the end of the interview;
  4. Report daily on the activities conducted and the realities/issues encountered to the M&E focal person and make relevant recommendations;
  5. Respect IOM’s Data Protection Principles when gathering data on behalf of the organization;
  6. provide completed questionnaires;
  7. Accurate, error-free, and properly filled-out survey forms for each interview conducted (by phone, or in person) in the designated platform.
  8. Summaries or transcripts of discussions held during focus group sessions.
  9. A log of interviews or sessions conducted each day.
  10. A brief document summarizing the enumerator’s overall work, challenges, successes, and key findings observed during data collection. Recommendations are also a plus;
  11. Perform other duties as they might be assigned;
