Position: WASH Project Manager for the Morocco earthquake response
Organization: High Atlas Foundation
Location: Marrakech, Morocco
Contract Type: 4-6 months
Capacity: Full time
The emergency: A large-scale 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck Morocco overnight on September 8, 2023. Nearly 3,000 people were reported killed and at least 5,000 more injured. The epicenter of the earthquake is located in the Al Haouz region, in Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains. The earthquake – the strongest to hit the region in 123 years – took lives and damaged buildings across six provinces. Assessments demonstrate great needs, including water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services and facilities. The WASH response focuses on improving access to safe water in the camps, as well as construction of latrines, showers, and handwashing stations to improve the health, well-being, and dignity of the affected communities.
