Outreach & Communications Specialist

The Inclusive Socio-Economic Development in Marrakech-Safi program (ISED-MS) is a USAID program implemented by Deloitte Conseil (2022-2027). The program is based in Marrakech and works in collaboration with the Wilaya of Marrakech-Safi and the Regional Council of Marrakech-Safi.  ISED-MS is implemented in association with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University and Enactus Morocco.

ISED-MS aims to support the emergence of an effective, transparent, and inclusive governance ecosystem in Marrakech-Safi region, as a primary condition for success of initiatives designed to generate significant socio-economic gains in the region. More specifically, the program activities: (i) anchor a transparent, results-oriented, inclusive culture in key local institutions, (ii) strengthen citizen engagement mechanisms and civil society capacities, (iii) support education institutions to better connect with the private sector to enhance the regional workforce, and (iv) build a regional dynamic around a value proposition which will help map out high potential investors and value chains.

ISED-MS is fully dedicated for maximizing citizen’s impact of its activities and those of its partners. For this reason, ISED-MS is looking for a professional outreach & communications specialist who can join our team in Marrakech office to serve the program by designing and implementing the program communication strategy and action plan. To implement the communication strategy, the specialist will have to attend ISED-MS activities to create appropriate communication content either addressed to US audience (highlights, success stories, reports, etc.) or to regional / national institutions, or beneficiaries, etc. through a strong collaboration with the regional / national media ecosystem. Also, the outreach & communications specialist will be in charge of running the program’s communication platforms.

Considering the above-mentioned information, ISED-MS is seeking qualified outreach & communications specialist candidates, if selected will be based in Marrakech and attend and report on the program’s activities in Marrakech-Safi region.

Scope of Work and Responsibilities:

  • Based in ISED-MS office in Marrakech on daily basis and open to travel in the whole Marrakech – Safi region to attend / cover the different activities
  • Design and implement the communication strategy and action plan
  • Attends ISED-MS activities as requested by ISED-MS activities’ leadership to be able to properly cover the key activities
  • Proactively develops cutting-edge media materials, including, highlights, success stories, videos, and social media products
  • Shoots and edits videos of the program
  • Responsible for the ongoing design and update of the USAID/Morocco internal and external websites and social media pages and accounts
  • Collects and organizes content for the USAID/Morocco website and social media in coordination with project staff and implementing partners
  • Manages the programs’s communications information systems
  • Monitors and ensures a regular supply of current outreach materials
  • Manages, organizes and updates the project’s photo library
  • Writes press releases, speeches, and talking points as required and maintain a database of presentations, site visit kits, press kits, etc.
  • Writes and organizes background briefings for media
  • Coordinates with various partners and USAID teams to write and/or edit articles for globally distributed USAID news publications
  • Assists in reviewing the press for development topics and USAID news, prepare press clips and forward to the COP and the MEL Manager for the latest information on crucial topics
  • Expected to be proactive and offer innovative ideas for the project’s promotion events

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required. A degree in the field of communications, public relations or a related area is desirable. Masters level education in the related fields of journalism, communications or public relations is advantageous
  • Perfect English writing skills to a USA audience
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in the field of public relations and corporate communications, demonstrating increasing responsibilities and knowledge
  • Knowledge of MS Office software, web design, HTML and other media software packages (i.e. Photoshop, video editing software)
  • Experience using Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube (preferably for organizational outreach)
  • Capable of crafting information messages in various media formats (press releases, websites, video, etc.) targeting a variety of audiences
  • Working knowledge of media relations, publishing and events planning fields
  • Strong organizational skills, analytical abilities and initiative to prioritize and complete tasks and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain collegial relations with press and media contacts, and to use sound judgment in presenting development programs to the press, media and external audiences

Procedures of selection:

Pre-selected candidates will be invited for several rounds of interviews.

Selected candidates should pass a written test to verify their skills to write to a USA audience (The exam will be in ISED-MS office in Marrakech).

Other interviews may be requested by ISED-MS management for selected candidates who passed the written test.
